Students pay their own tuition at these schools and institutions, which are not financed by the government. The fees for private colleges and universities may be greater than those for state institutions.

In the private sector, there are three kinds of institutions:

  1. Universities. It is possible to earn both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from them.
  2. University Colleges Generally speaking, they don’t have full university status and are generally affiliated with a larger institution; their primary focus is on pre- and diploma-level education. They are able to provide degrees in specific areas of study.
  3. Colleges. They offer diploma and pre-university programmes. Besides, they also provide degree programmes, including twinning programmes, through local or overseas universities.
